Deux-Montagnes, September 21, 2023 – Every year, the City of Deux-Montagnes flushes nearly 75 km of drinking water pipes throughout its territory. The flushing works on the water supply network will start on Sunday, September 24 and end on Sunday, October 29. We invite the public to consult the flushing work map to find out the dates scheduled in each sector.
THE PURPOSE OF THE WORK
This operation mainly removes and flushes particles of limestone, iron and rust from water mains to improve the quality of drinking water.
FOR CITIZENS TO NOTE
- Iron particles in the pipes can cause the water to become cloudy and reddish in colour. We recommend running the cold water for a few minutes, or at least fifteen minutes, until it becomes colourless again.
- Rinsing the system may result in a slight reduction in water pressure.
- Coloured water can be consumed and therefore poses no health risk.
- Before using household appliances such as washing machines or dishwashers, make sure the water is clear to avoid soiling clothes or dishes.
