BOIL WATER ADVISORY – STILL IN EFFECT

Please note that a boil water advisory is in effect since May 7th. Do not use tap water before first bringing it to a rolling boil for at least one minute. Otherwise, use bottled water.

In addition to the website, our Twitter account and outdoor electronic signs, the City has an automated call system to communicate with the population. Our database currently comprises 6,000 phone numbers. If you have not received the telephone message informing you of the boil water advisory launched on May 7, please register the phone number that you want to be reached at on  the AMS Portal by clicking here.

Water that has been previously boiled for one minute, or bottled water, should be used for the following until further notice:

  • Drinking and preparing beverages;
  • Preparing bottles and food for infants;
  • Washing and preparing foods eaten raw (fruits, vegetables, etc.);
  • Preparing foods that do not require prolonged cooking times (canned soup, desserts, etc.);
  • Making ice;
  • Brushing your teeth and rinsing your mouth.

Discard any ice (don’t forget refrigerator icemakers), beverages and foods prepared with unboiled tap water after May 7, 2014.

You can use unboiled tap water for:

  • Washing dishes in hot water, making sure to dry thoroughly;
  • Doing laundry, showering and bathing. Make sure young children do not swallow any water while bathing or clean them using a washcloth.

Schools, companies, businesses and institutions served: inform your clientele that the water is unfit for consumption. Shut off water fountains and display the information in areas where water remains accessible.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we thank you for your understanding. The City of Deux-Montagnes is currently making every effort to determine the cause of the problem and to correct it.
