For citizens concerned by the levee project near Lac des Deux Montagnes, a public information meeting will be held on October 4, 2018 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall (141 Grand-Moulin Road), from 7 to 9 pm. City Council members, municipal employees and representatives of a private engineering firm will outline the project and answer questions.

The various initiatives by the representatives of the City of Deux-Montagnes are continuing with a view to develop a levee on the edge of Lac des Deux Montagnes. The firm Axio Environnement is currently working on final specifications and geotechnical drilling on the territory of the city.
Axio Environnement’s team carries out numerous projects in the field of natural environments and waterfront development. Wildlife and floristic studies as well as the revegetation plan will be taken into account during the development of the levee on the edge of Lac des Deux Montagnes. These studies are required to obtain the authorization of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and the fight against climate change. An information meeting will be organized by the City of Deux-Montagnes early in the fall.

As of May 18, 2018 at 9 am, the level of Lac des Deux Montagnes is 23.01 meters according to the measures of the site Vigilance: flood monitoring of the Ministry of Public Security (MSP). The level is considered “normal” according to the data of this website. According to the weather forecast for the next few days, the MSP anticipates that the situation will remain stable. The various teams of the Ville de Deux-Montagnes remain vigilant and continuously monitor the level of the Lac des Deux Montagnes, as planned in the special flood response plan.

On May 9, 2018 at 11 am, the level of Lac des Deux Montagnes is 23.57 meters (down) according to the measures of the site Vigilance: flood monitoring of the Ministry of Public Security (MSP) . The authorities of the City of Deux-Montagnes follow the evolution hour by hour and remain in permanent contact with the Ministry of Public Security, Hydro Météo and the Quebec Water Network. The most recent forecasts can be optimistic for the next few days, but the emergency services and public works of the City of Deux-Montagnes remain alert. In the event that the level of water threatens to flood some areas of the city like last year, a temporary dyke would be installed. Permission to install the temporary dyke was given by the Ministry of the Environment from a pre-established level and plan. This level has not been reached yet. The City of Deux-Montagnes can not improvise in this type of protection facility since strict environmental standards regulate this kind of intervention on the edge of water bodies. Citizens can rest assured that the responsible authorities of the City are ready to intervene in accordance with the plan if necessary.

As of May 4, 2018, at 10 am, the level of Lac des Deux Montagnes is 23.27 meters according to the measures of the site Vigilance: flood monitoring of the Ministry of Public Security (MSP).For the moment, the level of Lac des Deux Montagnes has not reached the minimum flood threshold established by the Ministry of Public Security.The City of Deux-Montagnes authorities remain vigilant and keeps a careful eye on the levelof the lake.
The City of Deux-Montagnes has obtained permission from the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change to install, if necessary, a temporary dike in the event that floodwaters threaten certain areas of the City as they did last year.The temporary dike consists of a cofferdam made of concrete blocks and a flexible polyethylene membrane. The geomembrane is weighted using sandbags in front and on the block structure.The temporary dike would be set up at intersections between different walls built on residential lots.
The City of Deux-Montagnes has acquired 1700 concrete blocks to build the temporary dike. These blocks are currently stored in public areas close to Lac des Deux-Montagnes. An installation protocol is planned so that public works staff can quickly install the cofferdam.
