Considering the current level of Lac des Deux Montagnes, which is near the minor flood threshold (according to the measures of the “Vigilance site: flood monitoring” of the Ministry of Public Security), and given the abundant rains announced for the next few days, the city will proceed tomorrow morning with the installation of a temporary dyke.

As of April 16, 2019, at 10:30 am, the level of Lac des Deux Montagnes is 23.20 meters according to the measures of the website of Vigilance: flood monitoring of the Ministry of Public Security (MSP- Ministère de la Sécurité publique). The level is considered to be in “surveillance” according to the data of this website.

The City of Deux Montagnes has been collaborating on a pilot project to build resilience in a flood-prone area of the Montreal Metropolitan Community (MMC) since the beginning of February. In the wake of the 2017 spring floods, the MMC was mandated to draft of a flooding profile and make recommendations on land-use planning that would take account of adaptations to climate change.

Deux-Montagnes, February 11, 2019 – As of Friday, February 8, the City Deux-Montagnes has obtained official authorization by the Ministry of the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change (MELCC) to build a dike along the Lac des Deux-Montagnes shoreline.
