Flood Management: City of Deux-Montagnes now Equipped with Telemetric Station

Deux-Montagnes, February 28, 2020  – In order to more precisely monitor Lac des Deux Montagnes and better predict spring flooding, the City of Deux-Montagnes recently installed a camera-equipped telemetric station at the end of 13th Avenue.

The objective of the telemetric station is to predict spring thaw, ice movement, and floods based on a year-round hydro-meteorological monitoring program. More specifically, it’s composed of a barometric and pressure sensor for collecting data on a daily basis, as well as a camera for better monitoring the water level of the lake.

Being informed in real time of the results via Hydro-Météo gives the municipal emergency measures team significant latitude for making informed decisions in the event of an emergency situation.

This extra preventive measure, funded entirely by the provincial government through the Green Fund, is in addition to the construction of a permanent dyke.
