Flags are at half-mast for the Moncton RCMP police officers who were killed in the line of duty

On behalf of all City employees, the Deux-Montagnes Regional Police Department and myself, I would like to extend my condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the three Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers who were killed in the line of duty on June 4th in Moncton.

The flags at City Hall will be flown at half-mast. We too often forget the daily risks that police officers face. May their souls rest in peace.

Denis Martin, Mayor of Deux-Montagnes

On behalf of the Deux-Montagnes Regional Police Department, I offer my deepest condolences to the parents, children and all the families of the three RCMP officers who are experiencing great sorrow.

This senseless tragedy that occurred in Moncton, N.B. has deeply shaken the law enforcement community in Quebec. Whenever a police offer makes the ultimate sacrifice of giving his or her life to serve and protect the community, it puts into perspective the risks of our profession.

It reminds us to what extent the work we perform every day carries risks to those who have chosen to serve and protect the public.

I also hope for a speedy recovery to the two wounded police officers.

Denis Racicot, Acting Director, Deux-Montagnes Regional Police Department
