Deux-Montagnes has a skatepark !

Deux-Montagnes, July 12 2021 – It’s official, fun times are ahead for Deux-Montagnes’ wheeled sports fanatics with the recent arrival of a concrete skatepark. This new 185 square-meter space is located in parc Olympia, near the water games on chemin des Anciens.

Designed as a space for skateboarders, scooterists, roller-skating and BMXers, this skatepark caters primarily to beginners and intermediates, but also allows for more daring maneuvers by advanced-class practitioners. The skatepark includes a quarter-moon, funbox (a flat-top box with a ramp and small stairs), grindbox (flat-top box), and ramp.

“Teens have been dreaming about this new skatepark forever, and now their dream is about to come true with this big boost to Deux-Monatgnes’ array of sports and recreational activities. The safety of our younger residents was top of mind in the design, especially for those inclined to go all-out on their favourite off-road vehicles. We didn’t forget the fun factor either, considering the endless hours they’ll be spending perfecting their latest moves.” — Deux-Montagnes Mayor Denis Martin

A space to play, a place to grow

The new space provides learning opportunities in keeping with today’s advanced play culture. It’s a place to meet and socialize in between improving their agility, sense of balance, and coordination. It also encourages teens to better their decision-making skills and assess the risks involved in taking their trick-making prowess to the next level.

Safety first and foremost

The city’s goal is to stress safety as the crucial factor for all skill levels. Users are seriously encouraged to wear helmets, knee and elbow pads, wrist and hand guards, and other protective gear. After all, the skatepark is designed to reduce the risk of injury as much as possible.
