Défi Deux-Montagnes: Running Together for a Healthier Future

On Sunday, June 9, young and old are encouraged to run together for a healthier future during the 6th Défi Deux-Montagnes 2013.Honorary President Valérie Sanderson, an exceptionally talented soccer player, invites participants to complete one of the 4 proposed courses of 1, 2, 5 or 10 kilometers. The challenge kicks off at 8:45 a.m. in Central Park, rain or shine. Don’t miss it!

Registration is free for children under 12 and adults over 65. The Deux-Montagnes Challenge is an ADDM initiative, in partnership with the City of Deux-Montagnes and with the support of several local businesses. Registration forms are available at City Hall, the public library, Café Lola, La Farandole, elementary schools and online at www.ventusdxm.org .

“The Deux-Montagnes Challenge is for everyone, regardless of whether you are a runner! The goal is to demonstrate that physical activity is good for both the body and mind!” said Marc Lauzon, Mayor of Deux-Montagnes.

Formerly Club Ventus DXM, the Association Le Défi Deux-Montagnes (ADDM) seeks to promote the physical, mental and social benefits of physical activity. Funds raised will be donated to various schools in the region to support the implementation of extracurricular activities. Thanks to the success of the Deux-Montagnes Challenge, Club Ventus DXM has raised almost $40,000 since 2007 to help schools in the community provide children with regular extracurricular activities.

Valérie Sanderson is a soccer player emeritus who once represented Canada at the Azerbaijan World Cup – Under 17. In February 2013, she accepted a scholarship to play for the University of Memphis Tigers in Tennessee. “I am honoured to have been chosen to represent such a fine event,” she said. “I hope to inspire many children and adults to exercise more.”
