Detailed summary of the outgoing municipal administration : HEC study

The Centre sur la productivité et la prospérité / HEC Montréal unveiled this week a study that summarize the contribution of outgoing municipal governments. Developed from municipal financial reports submitted to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy (MAMOT), this analysis traces the evolution of the expenditures of each of Quebec’s 1,110 municipalities and explains how these expenditures have fluctuated since the last elections. This tool is essential for citizens who want to learn more about the management of their municipality.

The study shows that the City of Deux-Montagnes has greatly reduced its general administration expenses by less than $ 186 per inhabitant. In addition, the overall municipal expenses of the City of Deux-Montagnes per capita in 2016 are $ 1,223, compared to the $ 1,782 on average for the other comparable municipalities.

The data observed by the Centre sur la productivité et la prospérité / HEC Montréal put the City of Deux-Montagnes’ spending trend at the 10th rank favorable for 59 municipalities. These data demonstrate the efficiency of the two-mountain administration that is successful in providing services at an average cost of 30% lower per capita than other similar cities.
