BUSINESS CELEBRATION:OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER OR REDISCOVER YOUR LOCAL MERCHANTS

Spokesperson for the Business Celebration Event Committee Members, Tanya Bougie, along with other committee members, in collaboration with the City of Deux-Montagnes, announced that a new Business Celebration Event will be held in Deux-Montagnes on Saturday June 7, 2014, from 10 am till 4 pm.

The Business Celebration is a day-long event which aims to encourage residents to venture out of their homes and become more familiar with local Deux-Montagnes’ businesses. On Saturday June 7, 2014, from 10 am to 4 pm., all of the City’s merchants will be out in force to form a large outdoor market, invading parking lots and outdoor terraces to display their products/services for sale and to meet with residents. It’ll be sort of like a large Open House – an opportunity for local residents to receive discount coupons, samples, food and drink. It’s also a party, so there will be lots of balloons, inflatable games, as well as face painters for kids, music and animation in front of shops and in parking lots.

“Given the City of Deux-Montagnes’ geographic location, where the majority of its citizens who live north ofrue Guy (near Autoroute 640) hardly ever use the city’s commercial artery – chemin d’Oka – we have created a committee, in collaboration with the City, to organize a large event, where citizens will enjoy discovering or rediscovering us,” explained Mme Bougie, also owner of l’Œufrier in Deux-Montagnes.

The City of Deux-Montagne is aware of the difficulties experienced by its merchants associated with this event and “we want to help merchants turn the tide. We are active with the Merchants Event Committee and we hope that citizens will take advantage of this event to visit businesses they are fortunate to have close-by,” stated Mme Groulx-Stabile, Olympia District Councillor.

Passports

Passports will be produced and distributed to residents within a few days. The addresses and logos of businesses that have agreed to offer gift certificates will be found inside the passports. Citizens must visit at least 10 businesses registered in the passports during the Merchants Event – with stamping, or hole punching – to be eligible to win one of sets of gift certificates that the committee have put together.

When the event ends at 4 p.m., citizens and merchants are invited to gather in the parking lot in theIGA Sénécal et filles parking lot on chemin d’Oka. This will provide an opportunity to share, celebrate and draw for the sets of gift certificates.

Be there for the Merchants Event on June 7!
