Deux-Montagnes, September 14, 2020 – Each year, the City of Deux-Montagnes flushes nearly 75 km of water pipes throughout its territory. Flushing work on the aqueduct network will begin this Sunday, September 18 from 9 p.m. and will end on Saturday, October 22 in the morning. Fire hydrant inspections will begin on October 4 and end on October 31.
OBJECTIVE OF THE OPERATION
This mainly removes the natural mineral sediments left by the water on the inside walls of pipes (iron and rust particles) in order to improve the quality of drinking water.
NOTE TO THE CITIZENS
- The detachment of iron particles in the pipes can lead to cloudy, reddish-coloured water. It is recommended to run the cold water for a few minutes until it returns to its normal appearance.
- Coloured water can be consumed and therefore does not cause any health risk.
- Before using household appliances, such as washing machines or dishwashers, first make sure that the water is colourless to avoid soiling clothes or dishes.

Note that the work will be carried out one sector at a time (see the map of sectors below) and that it will be carried out in the evening and during the night (between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.) from Sunday evening to Saturday morning, and this in order to minimize the impact for citizens.
