$2,000 Donated to the City of Lac-Mégantic

At the Council meeting of July 11, 2013, Mayor Marc Lauzon announced that the City would contribute $2,000 to the “Lac-Mégantic Tragedy 2013” trust fund.

On the behalf of all elected officials and City employees, the Mayor offered support and sympathy to the citizens of Lac-Mégantic and the surrounding areas following the terrible rail disaster that occurred during the night between July 5 and 6 of this year. The town hall flags have been set at half-mast for the week.

“I salute Colette Roy-Laroche, Mayor of Lac-Mégantic, as well as all counselors and Lac-Mégantic municipal employees who have been working tirelessly to provide their community with essential public services and to organize aid to those families most affected by the disaster. I am also proud to announce that the City of Deux-Montagnes has answered the call for financial aid issued by the Union des Municipalités du Québec with a donation of $2,000. Citizens of Lac-Mégantic, our thoughts are with you,” said Mayor Marc Lauzon before requesting a minute of silence.
