Deux-Montagnes, March 2, 2021 – The City of Deux-Montagnes is pleased to announce the signing of the collective agreement of its firefighters, governing the new full-time structure of the Deux-Montagnes / Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac  Intermunicipal Fire Safety Service, effective since February 28.

The restructuring of the Deux-Montagnes / Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac Intermunicipal Fire Safety Service ensure that firefighters will be in fire station 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

These changes to the structure of the Fire Safety Service allow the City of Deux-Montagnes to be aligned with the requirements of the MRC’s Fire Safety Risk Coverage Scheme. Under the Fire Safety Act, the City has the obligation to comply with this fire risk management and decision-making tool, which the ultimate objective is to improve the efficiency of fire services and to offer optimal protection coverage for the population.

“This is good news for our citizens. The changes made to our team will allow us to improve the speed of firefighters’ intervention, in addition to helping meet the objectives of the risk coverage plan,” said the mayor of Deux-Montagnes, Denis Martin.

The collective agreement of the new Deux-Montagnes / Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac Intermunicipal Fire Safety Service was signed in Deux-Montagnes on February 24. Note that the City of Deux-Montagnes provides its fire safety services to the City of Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac under an agreement.
