Deux-Montagnes, December 11, 2020 – The Martin administration presented yesterday the budget for 2021. For the next year, the Deux-Montagnais will benefit from a tax freeze.

After 5 consecutive years with tax increases below the inflation threshold, the City of Deux-Montagnes hopes that this freeze on the property tax bill and tariffs will give a little rest to the taxpayers of Deux-Montagnes struggling with the health crisis.

Mayor Denis Martin emphasizes that: “ This freeze on the tax bill is made possible thanks to the rigorous financial management that we have been implementing for several years now and thanks to the vitality of real estate redevelopment in Deux-Montagnes. I would like to thank the elected officials and the management team in place for the efforts made to design this budget adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic  “.

BUDGET 2021: HIGHLIGHTS

• Significant decrease in financing costs thanks to debt reduction over the past 6 years.
• Establishment of full-time firefighters to comply with government obligations for risk coverage plan.
• Three-Year Capital Works Program provides for investments of more than $ 16 million in 2021, of which nearly 60% are financed by grants or reserves:

– Resilience project in the face of flooding (installation of water retention tanks, etc.).

– Noise barrier project along highway 640.

– Skatepark project

– Street resurfacing

– Centennial park project
