Horticulture Day in Deux-Montagnes: A Success Despite the Weather

The mayor of Deux-Montagnes, Marc Lauzon, and City Councillors were very pleased with the turnout for the 8th annual Horticulture Day, which took place last Saturday, May 25, onsite at the Public Works Department and which attracted about 2,000 families (4,500 visitors in all) despite the gloomy weather.

“The goal of this event was to give citizens a chance to enhance their lawns and gardens and to interact with and learn from other horticultural enthusiasts,” said Marc Lauzon, Mayor of Deux-Montagnes. “This year, we gave out 35 cubic yards of compost, 3,174 crates of annuals and 1,946 perennials to the citizens of Deux-Montagnes.”

In addition, 15 home composters were sold for $45 instead of the regular price of $100. Some sixty rainwater collectors, worth $90 each, were also sold for only $45.

Several door prizes were also awarded. The City of Deux-Montagnes would like to thank the sponsors for these prizes: the Parc de la Rivière des Mille-Iles, Docteur Forêt, the Bois de Belle-Rivière Regional Education Park, Pelouse Santé and Garant.

It is important to note that the success of this event is due in large part to the support of our distinguished partners, such as the Scouts, members of the Lions Club and the Deux-Montagnes Maison des jeunes.

Finally, we would like to thank the Caisse Desjardins Saint-Eustache-Deux-Montagnes, whose participation as lead partner for yet another year made Horticulture Day possible, and the staff of the Public Works Department, who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this event.
