Deux-Montagnes, July 9, 2020 – The City of Deux-Montagnes will conduct its annual fire hydrant inspection from July 13 to July 27, 2020. The work, which was originally scheduled to start on June 23, had to be postponed by the contractor.
The work will take place Monday to Thursday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. In addition to ensuring the proper functioning of the hydrants, this operation is essential to maintaining the quality of the drinking water distribution system. It removes particles that have formed inside of the water mains and detects possible leaks.
Note to the citizens:
- The detachment of iron particles in the pipes can lead to cloudy, reddish-coloured water. It is recommended to run the cold water for a few minutes until it returns to its normal appearance.
- Coloured water can be consumed and therefore does not cause any health risk.
- Before using household appliances, such as washing machines or dishwashers, first make sure that the water is colourless to avoid soiling clothes or dishes.
