Deux-Montagnes, June 1, 2020 – The City of Deux-Montagnes announces that the reconstruction of the Deux-Montagnes Boulevard will begin next Monday June 8, work to redo the asphalt including that of the bike path.
This major project will also improve urban development, optimize active transportation and offer more safety to pedestrians and cyclists. In particular, the City of Deux-Montagnes plans to build new paved pedestrian crossings and to plant nearly a hundred trees.
“The work on Deux-Montagnes Boulevard will allow the City to enhance its urban environment and meet the needs of the population in terms of active mobility, particularly with the upcoming arrival of the REM and its future train station,” said the Deux-Montagnes mayor, Denis Martin, who had made a commitment to citizens to redo this main arterial road.
The work will be carried out Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., and will run until September.
Work schedule
- From June 8 to 26:
– Rehabilitation of the Deux-Montagnes Boulevard, southbound.
– Traffic will be diverted north. The construction of a temporary lane will allow continuous traffic in both directions.
– Parking will not be allowed on Deux-Montagnes Boulevard in order to allow the progress of works without hindrance.
– The cycle path can be used during the works.
- From June 29 to July 24:
– Rehabilitation of the Deux-Montagnes Boulevard, northbound.
– Traffic will be diverted south. The construction of a temporary lane will allow continuous traffic in both directions.
– Parking will not be allowed on Deux-Montagnes Boulevard in order to allow the progress of works without hindrance.
– The cycle path can be used during the works.
- From August 5 to 25:
– Repair of the cycle path along Deux-Montagnes Boulevard.
– There will be a deviation on the sidewalk.
- From August 10 to September 4:
– Rehabilitation of Blouin and Gagnier streets.
– Local traffic will be allowed.
- From August 10 to September 15:
– Rehabilitation of Bellevue and Bromont streets.
– Local traffic will be allowed.
$ 4 million investment
Following an invitation to tender, the firm Construction Anor (1992 Inc.) was the lowest conforming bidder and will carry out the work, which will amount to nearly $ 3,953,094.13 million.
